The mission of Lighthouse Community Charter School is to prepare a diverse, K-12th grade student population for college and the career of their choice by equipping each child and youth with the skills, knowledge, and tools to become a self-motivated, competent, lifelong learner. The model for Lodestar was selected by a team of local and national personalized and blended learning experts as one of the 10 “breakthrough schools” in Oakland that represent innovation, novel combinations of promising and proven solutions, and groundbreaking partnerships. We will spend the 2015-16 year, developing our school design model and further strengthening our community ties for the opening of our second school.
Lodestar will open in August 2016 with grades K, 1, 2, and 6.
We will be enrolling 60 students in each grade.
Our school will eventually be K – 12. To slowly grow to our full capacity, we will add each subsequent year as we grow. For example, in 2017-18 we will be adding 3rd and 7th grades.
