Halloween and Fall Events in the Bay Area

Are you ready for Halloween? Summer is my favorite season, so I always have a hard time with the beginning of Fall. But getting into the Halloween spirit helps me to accept it and even enjoy it! Especially since becoming a mom, seeing the excitement in my children’s eyes when the pumpkins start to appear is something I now look forward to.

For our family, October means going to the pumpkin patch, participating in Halloween events, choosing the best costumes, and of course trick or treating. If you want to find places to visit or events to attend for this Halloween season, I have listed about 250 pumpkin patches and events happening this year in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can browse the map, filter by city or type your favorite activity in the keyword filter.

Happy Halloween!

Summer may bring us good weather and Winter may bring us the holiday season and time off with family, but neither season can really capture the magical atmosphere of Autumn in Brentwood. As the leaves fall off the trees and are blown around on clear days by that cool breeze that characterizes this time of year in our area, families will come to the Smith Family Farm Pumpkin Harvest to enjoy a day out on the farm and, perhaps more importantly, pick out the perfect pumpkin. With no holiday shopping to do, no big family get-togethers to plan and trick-or-treating not until the end of October, we are always reminded that sometimes the best memories are made with others during the quietest times of the year. So dig that cozy sweater out of your closet and get pumped for pumpkin season: October is the time of year to enjoy the slower pace of life, time spent with family and great days out. There's no better place to do that than at the Smith Family Farm Pumpkin Harvest.

Brentwood

Farming attracted the Nunn Family to the rich soils of Brentwood almost 150 years ago. At just 20 years old, George Nunn came to town to work the grain harvest. He saw promise and a successful future living and working with the kind people of Brentwood. Slowly, other family members joined him and they set down roots in their beautiful surroundings. They began building a farming business that is still run by third, fourth and fifth generation members of the Nunn Family. Today, the Nunn Family, supported by a team of dedicated professionals, continues a tradition of bringing superb agricultural products to California.
Love for the land and a passion for farming runs strong throughout the Nunn Family. This outlook on life formed the momentum behind Three Nunns Farm – run by the three Nunn siblings: Jake, Sam, & Hailey.

The tour begins at the historic Juarez Building office just inside the old gates, and is about 90 minutes long mostly following the paved roads.
Please note: While Tulocay Cemetery’s roads are paved, the terrain is still quite hilly in steep in some parts. Please be sure that scooters, walkers, or other mobility devices are suitable for inclines.

We provide individual headsets so that our tour guide can easily be heard throughout the tour.

Saturday-Sunday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The most popular event of the year is coming up with two full weekends of Boo at the Zoo Presented by First 5 California. Bring it on by wearing your creative and imaginative animal or super-hero Halloween costumes and more, on Saturday and Sunday, October 21-22 & 28-29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Highlights of this popular family event include the daily costume parade and contest and watching as zoo animals “chomp and stomp” their Halloween and pumpkin treats throughout each day.

The costume parade and contest will take place at 12 noon each event day at the Elinor Friend Playground, where entrants can line up to parade around the Sculpture Learning Plaza and Playfield Lawn before being considered for the various costume categories. These include Best Animal Costume, Best Family Costume, Best Toddler Costume, and Judge’s Favorite, where winners are selected in first, second, and third place. This year, special trophies will be awarded in each category.

The highlight of each day is the line-up of scheduled treat presentations for animals, such as chimpanzees, lemurs, rhinoceroses, and more, which makes Boo at the Zoo one of the most unique Halloween events around. Be sure to take a snap of the schedule located on A-frame signs as guests enter.

The event also features the Happy Harvest Hay Maze, a 5,000-square foot hay maze and the largest one in San Francisco, featuring a hay pit, toddler maze, and fun facts kids can find at dead ends within the maze. A candy treat station is located in Entry Village where guests can pick up a candy treat bag upon exiting.

What
Trick or treating
When
Sunday, October 29, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Where
Downtown Campbell, Campbell

Bring your two and four legged little ghouls, goblins, and superheroes to our haunted district for some scary good fun and Trick or Treating!
Our annual Creepy Crawly Halloween is a two hour costume supernova in the streets of Downtown Campbell. Candy and other freebies are certainly a big part of this event, but most people come mainly to revel in a community wide costume party in the streets and get some candy as an added bonus.

With the number of people that we draw to our event, it's not likely that you're going to leave with a full bucket of candy so if you're mainly coming for the candy, you'll probably leave disappointed despite our best efforts every year to make more candy available and involve more organizations.

This is a VERY popular event and it will be crowded so if you're bringing sensitive children or animals, please take special precautions.

All the schools in the Moreland District work together to create a magical Pumpkin Patch where our kids can play games, explore, get spooked, try new foods, listen to stories, and work on crafts. The Patch is located at Moreland Woods.

Along with our traditional pumpkin sales and family-friendly events, we have an amazing team of actors and Halloween enthusiasts who transform the Moreland Woods into Grimm's Hollow, a scenic trail that is open to the general public.

Proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch go directly to MEF, to benefit our children through arts, sports and science programs. The MEF Pumpkin Patch is a wonderful way to celebrate the season and give back to our community!

Established in 1917, LJB Farms is a family business that started out as farmers and has grown into a small local business that provides for the community.

While you may find everything you could possibly desire at a large superstore, LJB Farms provides a family atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the best taste and flavor that the area around them provides.

LJB Farms has remained virtually untouched from the day Luigi Bonino first set foot on the fertile San Martin soil over a century ago.

Nothing at LJB gets stored in a freezer in order to slow or stop the ripening process nor is our produce sprayed with gas to force-ripen off the vine. LJB Farms only grows conventionally farmed, vine-ripened produce that ensure the best quality our soil has to offer.

Muelrath Ranches, established in 1936 as a dairy in Bodega Bay, is a real working ranch. The Muelrath family added the Santa Rosa location in 1946, where Bob Muelrath still farms today growing pumpkins, gourds, winter squash and sunflowers. He also raises cattle and grows hay and silage. Bob and his wife Audrey strive to produce high quality, freshly picked products that are grown on site, sustainably farmed and are pesticide free. Products grown at Muelrath Ranches are available for both retail and wholesale purchase.

The patch is unique both for the quality of pumpkins and the size of the patch. Their unique pumpkin stems, colors, and varieties are a North Bay trademark. The picturesque pumpkin patch offers great family fun! Bob and Audrey invite those from far and wide to come climb a haystack, traverse the hay tunnel to a dungeon that contains silly and spooky things, follow the maze through tall cornstalks, enjoy a hay ride, or test your aim with our “pumpkin slingshot” beginning September 30!
