Orinda Books is celebrating 40 years in Village Square, and proud to be Contra Costa County’s largest independent bookstore. Visiting is easy! We are open seven days a week and have ample free parking right outside our doors.

Browse our 8000+ titles, and don’t hesitate to ask our well-read staff to help with recommendations for all ages and tastes. If we don’t have a book on our shelves, we can order it, and in most cases have it ready for pick up at the store within a couple of days. We also offer free gift wrapping!

Our author readings and book signings attract people from all over the Bay Area, and we are particularly proud to offer shelf space and reading events to local authors. Our ceramics exhibitions featuring work by Orinda artist Gerry Wallace have become sell-out hits. Gerry has a permanent display at the store which she replenishes weekly. We also feature paintings for sale by local artists on our dedicated gallery wall.
