Hergl School is a private, nonprofit, residential and day school specializing in the treatment of children whose primary diagnosis is developmental disabilities, including mental retardation, pervasive developmental delay, and autism. Our program provides a highly structured environment with a unique program of physical exercises, life skills training, and treatment for behavior problems. Each student receives individualized instruction in expressive and receptive language, sensory motor integration, gross and fine motor functioning and the acquisition of cognitive skills in core academic areas. In both small group and one-on-one teaching our staff stresses communication, socialization, and the development of respect for oneself and for others. We work closely with the families and other agencies to insure generalization of skills from school to home and the community.
