Approximately 20% of children (10 million students) in United States public schools have learning profiles that are not aligned with the expectations and teaching methodologies prevalent in mainstream school systems. These students are referred to as having learning differences or learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, ADHD or attention issues, and dysgraphia. As a result of not fitting in the system, they are often perceived as incapable of performing well in school, unmotivated or too challenged to keep up with their peers. These students often disengage with school, perform poorly and may not graduate from high school. The Reading Clinic works with a wide spectrum of learners, from struggling to uniquely challenged, and takes care to fit their approach to meet each students’ needs. The Reading Clinic uses and adapts research based multi-sensory programs to help children enjoy the learning process.
