In 2009, a group of committed parents from East San Jose approached Summit Public Schools about bringing a Summit school to their community. Parents collected a thousand signatures from families who wanted a high-quality public school option for their children, one that ensured their children would graduate to be successful in college and beyond. In 2011, two Summit schools in San Jose were born, Summit Tahoma and Rainier. Summit Tahoma is now among the top public high schools in California as well as the county. In 2014, Summit Tahoma graduated its founding class and is proud that 100% of its graduates were accepted into a 4-year college.
