La Cheim manages two nonpublic schools: one for the Eastern Contra Costa County Area, directed by Sue Herrera, and another for the Western Contra Costa and Alameda County Area, directed by Karen Jackson. Both schools provide special education services to students in grades 6-12 identified as having social/emotional, behavioral and learning needs that cannot be met in traditional school settings.

Our students benefit from small classes that offer a high staff-student ratio, structured and engaging core academic classes integrated with therapeutic groups and access to counselors throughout the day. Our dedicated and experienced professional staff work with each individual student to help them develop their academic skills while strengthening social skills, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
