Description
New and expanded buildings for a growing population were the recommendations of a 20-year Library Facilities Master Plan that was approved by the Board of Supervisors in March 2001. The plan identified the need for three libraries in Vacaville by 2020. As this plan was being developed, community leaders proposed a library to anchor the Town Square redevelopment project. The library is situated adjacent to Ulatis Creek and Andrews Park, the location is a peaceful oasis in a busy downtown.
The Vacaville Public Library – Town Square, which opened in January 2005, offers a collection of news, literature, music and film that would have been impossible to imagine in the Carnegie library. The library’s computer center is an ideal space for technology training and other online services. Group study room and a technologically equipped meeting room offer an inviting place for study groups, tutoring and meetings, as well as for programs and presentations.
The 100 year-old tradition of providing services tailored to the needs of the community continues in Vacaville’s new library. It is up-to-date, but the staff still offer the same friendly service.
